Participation of the ANMB delegation to the 20th IAMU Conference (International Association of Maritime Universities)


Between October 29 and November 1, a delegation of the "Mircea cel Batran"Naval Academy formed by Col. Dr. Catalin POPA, deputy commander (vice-rector) for international programs and relations and Lt. Cdor. Alexandru COTORCEA, participated at the 20th IAMU (International Association of Maritime Universities) Conference, organized by the Japanese foundation, in Tokyo, Japan. The anniversary edition of the conference brought together 45 representatives from 65 member universities and aimed to promote the new, internationally harmonized curricular standard "Global Maritime Professional" Body of Knowledge (https://iamu-edu.org/gmp/), the debates aiming at the new challenges of the system of preparation and training in the maritime field, in correlation with the current trends of the maritime technique and technology. Benefiting from the presence of representatives of major players in the international shipping market (K-Line, NYK, Lloyds, ITF, IMO, etc.), the preparation of graduates for alignment with the new requirements on the labor market was the central element of the debates, emphasizing the future role of specialists in the maritime industry and especially on board ships, in the implementation of autonomous ships (MASS - Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships). The IAMU membership of the "Mircea cel Batran" Naval Academy ensures the visibility of the institution internationally and stimulates the maintenance of relations with the academic maritime environment, contributing to the active involvement of ANMB in the international process of negotiation and harmonization of international university standards in the maritime field.
