TRAINING COURSE ON CLEAN BLUE WATERS

The Black Sea SIERRA project (full name: Harnessing complementary curricular preparedness via sustainable management in response to civil and military pollution on the coastline, tributaries and lagoons in Black Sea‘s North, West, South zone) addresses the goals of the EU Mission "Restore our ocean, sea and waters by 2030" by providing a systemic approach using strategic research for the protection and preservation of the Black Sea waters, as well as those of the Common Maritime Agenda for the Black Sea by involving stakeholders in regional cooperation, including with non-EU countries (Turkey, Ukraine) to jointly tackle the challenges posed by the specific pressures on the environmental sustainability and healthy marine and coastal Black Sea ecosystems.

Objectives of the event:

  • Dissemination of the latest data on pollution in the Black Sea;
  • Increase the awareness among public regarding the threats posed by pollution made by economical and military activities;
  • Synergy between academia and local and national authorities;
  • Development of strategic research on environmental protection;
  • Increase the regional cooperation between Black Sea countries.
